Right then.
I've my 2nd baby on the way, so I lose the computer room :(

So its a corner hideaway ikea workstation for me (Alve)

But...

My full tower wont fit, plus I need a very quiet case as the pc is on 24x7 and will now be in the living room.

So then, its new case time.
Was thinking about the Antec P180, then came here to all the Lian-li fans, and started looking at the 1000 / 1100's
so then, which would you recommend, obviously needs to hold all my gear, but must be as quiet as possible. Feel free to suggest other alternatives to the above.

Needs to hold :
2 x dvd's,
1 x 3.5
4 Hdd's (maybe more in future)
have at least 1 front blanking plate for possible fan control panel.

Not too bothered about about looks, its going to spend 99% of its life shut in a cupboard.

Now I dont want to spend too much money, but I want to get it right so will fork out for the dearest if its the best, my motto is you will forget the extra few quid, but an annoyance will always annoy.

Has anyone used both the p180 and a lian-li, which was quieter?

Cheers

for pure silence factor i would say p180 - really good cooling properties and got loads of room for expansion only has the 1 external 3.5 bay so a fan controller (if really needed) can be put in a 5.25

Load of rubbish!

Any computer can be silent if its components are low noise, ultimately a 100db fan is 100db in a P180 or in a v1000.

The P180 is prone to doors warping and the panels breaking, more issues with this case than any comparable case posted in this forum, had no issues that the user could not solve with a Lian Li in here for a couple of years, yet you get 1 a month on the Antec P's and their design flaws.

Either case will do well, just the Antec cases are built to a budget, and try to fit to many features in sacrificing build quality.

I would personally suggest the Akasa Eclipse 62, best cooling of any case, a couple of 5v fans and quiet CPU and GFX coolers and it will be easily able to outcool the comparable P180 or v1100/S80 system.

Ticks all your boxes, and if its put away out of sight the only issue with the Eclipse is removed (Its ugly as anything!).

steady Yewen i know peeps have ahad problems with the p180 and not suggesting they havent. MAybe im just ine of the lucky ones that hasn't had warped panels or broken plastic tabs. i am really impressed with the acoustics of the case thats all i was trying to point out and not putting any other case down.
I agree with the Akasa case in that it is highly rated as a sturdy case and can be made impressivly quiet. but then all cases can to a certain degree.

Sorry if I came across as anything but in jest, missed out the ':p'. :o

I do know exactly what you mean, but I would much prefer to buy a case which has a solid track record, than one with flaws the company that makes it admits to.

If you get a good one then yes it is brilliant, and most people do get good ones. A fairly substantual amount however are not so good, and although Antec support is second to none, I would much rather not have to use the customer support at all.

Thanks for the advice about the Antec, I dont want to spend that much on a possible lemon!

The Akasa isnt bad at all, looks like it will fit the bill, see what you mean about the looks though!, but tis in a cupboard, wouldnt have minded a 'front door' as all my drives are beige, but time or £50 will fix that.
Do the internal drive enclosers slide out or are they fixed? Hate juggling drives into tight spaces.

Cheers

Isn't the mirage 62 the same as the eclipse 62 but with a front door?
