New case: which one?

Do like the look of the Phantom, also the cooler master haf x looks good too despite being over my budget

Would like a case with a cut out window for cpu able to mount cpu cooler without the fuss of taking out the M/B

Both the NZXT Phantom and the HAF X has a cut-out to mount cpu cooler,

Seeing as you have a hiper anubis I'd say the only way to go is a full tower like the lian li mentioned above but nothing wrong with the haf x or phantom if you don't mind the looks.

After taking on board the comments in the thread, I'll be be better off with a full tower case instead of struggling with another mid tower. Have to say Phantom is doing that for me beginnig to like the look of it but which colour? :p torn between red and black, don't like it in white

Thinking about getting the haf x in a week or so just got rid of my old haf 932 wich was an amzing case but the nzxt looks good aswell,

I don't think the red is available yet. That would be the one I'd go for though. Looks nice. That case is seriously massive.

I've also ordered the HAF-X case, awaiting it's arrival on wednesday for me to finally get my hands on at thursday when i go home to my parents *drools* (being at uni means i cant have it delivered to my flat >.>)

You can never go wrong with a Lian-Li....

1) Case size and features to fit any taste

2) Anodised Aluminium

3) Build Quality second to none. NONE.

*Gazes longingly at the PC50-R on his desk* Soon, my preciouuuusssss.......
*Strokes the i7 950 awaiting a board to be fit into*

(Warning: This *Post is sponsored by a self confessed Lain-Li 'fanbois') :D
*Ahem, ninja Edit.

I have the PC50-R for over a year now and don't to excited as it might disappoint you in some areas. Now don’t get me wrong it’s not a bad case by any stretch of the imagination but there are a few annoying areas that Lian Li need to improve.

Good

- Ultra light, very easy pick up and move about
- Very good sturdiness for a aluminium case
- Loads of cooling and standard case fans a very quiet
- Great design features like the expansion slot clips, hard drive cages are all tool less
- Lots of cable management holes
- Huge CPU cut hole
- Dust filters are everywhere, even the PSU fan hole gets one

Bad

- The side panel doesn’t come on or off easily, in fact the metal tab on mine has buckled.
- You will need a PSU with long cables or extensions to take advantage of the cable management holes
- Fans rattle against the metal frame causing vibrations
- Spinning optical drives causes the case to rattle and vibrate
- The front drive bay covers don’t always clip back in place so I have to line them up loosely and leave them alone
- No fan controller

Ugly

- None, this is a great looking case and very functional but if I had to pick one it would be the price as its a lot of money considering the imperfections.

If it weren't for the side panel which is a real bug bearer for me I would be over the moon with the PC-50R and could over look the other minor drawbacks. Prior to the Lian Li I had my previous case for 5 years and side panel was so easy to remove and put back on again so it's strange that a company like Lian Li couldn't get this right given Antec were getting this right years and years ago. As for the rattling I think you can stop that IF you use screws to hold in the hard drives and DVD drives, the tool less clips to hold the drives in place don't hold them tight enough IMO.

Ace feedback on the case, tyvm! :D

I'll watch out for that side panel, but in all honest some of those 'bad' imperfections are common to tooless designs, and I'll no doubt screw in my Optical Drives and Hard Drives. I'll see how it goes.

I actually have the case right now - itching to build my PC in it but just have to wait *sigh*.

Also be careful where you put the panels down as when your building those little screws go everywhere and will scratch the paint work infact don't even lay it down keep it upright agaisnt a wall or somthing.

Oh there was one other thing I forget, to get access to the top cable holes i.e the one to send the CPU's 4/8 pin connection to the motherboard you need to take of the top panel (easy just lift it and it unclips) then you have to unscrew the crontrol panel which take a bit of time.

Finally ordered NZXT Phantom :D and ordered longer sata cables, HD audio extention just incase cables are short

Anything else I should do?

Get a 140mm intake fan at the front, Sharkoon Silent Eagle could do or you could look for the NZXT fan though i know a major online company that do the 200mm version for the top+side.(i can send it in trust if you want.)
