I had built a system and a couple of months later, PSU has failed. The PSU was included in case when bought. Would you:

1) Stripped it down and take case with PSU back to shop for free exchange under 1 year warranty

2) Replace with new PSU which means forking out money but it's few mins job

Obviously, option 2 is sensible, right?

I have realised that in the future, it is best to get case and psu separately for much less hassle, should psu fails within 1 year warranty. What do you think?

Imy said:
Whats wrong with doing 1) and 2) since 1) doesn't cost anything. You'll end up with an extra PSU which you can either sell or keep as a backup.
Option 1 may not cost anything but your time stripping it down and then rebuild it once replacement case arrived. Again, replacement case will come with another crappy PSU so better buy a quality PSU.

I have learned a lesson anyway.
