Hi Guys plans to build a new PC but variety of cases is overwhelming has anyone got any recommendations? also is water cooling worth it? planning on spending about £1700 just for the tower.

All air cooling I take it ? knowing what spec it would be would help.
For example using a noctua nh d15 cooler not all cases will fit it.

Fractal Design Define S /w Window would be my choice.
Or Define R5 /w Window.
I like Phanteks too, but the two I mentioned above look better aesthetically imho.

I'd advise getting a noctua d15 than an AIO water cooler.
Not only cheaper but it will be much quieter and cooler than any non custom water cooling.

Your spec is great but I'd get the noctua d15, and the define s or any of those phanteks are good cases too.
I do prefer the define s because of the open front so the fans can blow air unobstructed, great little cheap case.

The define s has no optical bays btw in case you didn't notice but who needs a dvd drive these days.
I would say though long term if you plan on sli /xfire might be better off with a more roomy case, smaller cases are more suited to 1 card setups imo.

You get what you pay for and you wont get hq in cheaper cases.

That will work.

Only you can decide if its too big or not as you know hwere its going to sit.

It has a fan at the front, rear and top already fitted.

That is enough.

If you add a water cooler in the roof area then they come with their own fans to use.

That would then give you a free fan (the one from the roof which you would remove) to use elsewhere.

Don't forget the Gigabyte X99-SLI is about 20mm wider than a standard ATX motherboard, so you either need an E-ATX case, or check the case can support it.

I personally favour the styling on a lot of Corsair cases - I have a 500R, I adore the 750D and would love something like the 900D.

Water cooling - Yep, very good.
AIO coolers are often noisy, though still quieter than some air coolers, but teh performance is usually good value for money.
Custom w/c loops are the best and look awesome, but they do cost. I just put one in mine.

Having watched a couple of builds and assisted in a few, I found it very easy - It was only challenging as I had two friends and both dogs making noise around me, so I forgot a couple of o-rings! :D

Let's see... 120 rad, 240 rad, CPU block, GPU block, X-Res 100 combo, 12 Monsoon compression fittings, 7 EK angled fittings, couple of Primochill 11/16 tubes, 1L Mayhem X1 blue... cost about £350 and took a good 35ºC off my temperatures all round.

I already had nine Noctua fans to choose from, though.
