Hi all

Ok atm i have this spec.

cpu = P4 2.8 HT
graphics card = Bfg 7800 gs oc 256mb AGP
motherboard = some old msi board
psu = hiper R type 580
hardrive = idle 80 gig not sure what make
disk drives = dvd rom idle
case = mozart Tx
Monitor = samsung sync master 940 bw widescreen (1440/900)

its a pretty old system i only get like 10-30 fps in unrealtornament 3 with 15 bots on med/ settings.

so looking a cheap spec for gaming ((i dont need monitor/case/))

looking at this atm

(edit) forgot a dvd rom oh well add £20 to that on top :)
i dont think its worth keeping any of my old stuff as it just to old i think to play the new game coming out on high settings.
thanks for any help.

( i never overclocked a cpu before looks a bit hard)

Thanks never thought of going amd

I cant seem to find that Jetway M26GT3-SVP nForce 405

thats a motherboard i take it lol.

also is the 2 gig ram i speced ok?
cheers

u have a psu, dvd rom drive and hard drive from you're current spec, i'd keep them and just upgrade mobo/cpu, memory and gfx card.

well my sister having my old pc so i cant really take bits out of it.

another thing is how good is amd2 dual core vs intel dual core is basic the same thing really?

so it mite be worth going intel if its faster then? ( i just played cod4 and i was getting some nice fps 100 fps some times on med settings and no slow down i was shocked lol
my old pc can still play the new games lol but indeed crysis will probs be the 1 game that will be slow on my pc

What about something like;

8800GTS
OCZ 2GB RAM
DS3R Perhaps?
C2D E2180
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB HDD

Depending on the Motherboard, that can be had for under £400.

well my budget has gone up a bit so i looking at this new build what you guys think should i change anything ? ( i don't need case or monitor)

I will try and overclock the cpu so maybe i will need a better fan then the stock one?
my case is a mozart TX and my monitor is a syncmaster with res (1440/900)
thanks.

You don't need a gtx for that resolution, a 320mb GTS would be fine. Or a 640 if you feel like it...

The money could be better spent on another HDD or a cooler.

Also, i beleive the Samsung is a better disk drive ;)

+ the keyboard and mouse

thanks for that spec Cr0fty looks good but how well would the gts 320mb do in crysis ?

also that cpu cooler dont look like it has a fan on it? ( not sure how that matters on them cpu coolers.)
and it looks big and heavy does it need other support to hold in place?

and i take in comes with pre thermal compound on it or do i need to buy it.

i am going to be ordering my new on 28th this month so is any new graphics card coming out like 8800GT or some worth getting over the gts 320mb
thanks and sry all the questions .

I think the GT is slower then the GTS.
I'm not too sure about crysis performance either, but it should run it fine.

The cooler has a fan inside it ;)
It will fit fine, but some Arctic Silver 5 would go well for thermal paste.

The extra on the 640mb would only be useful in higher resolutions really.

thanks for the info i will porbs dump the quad for a dualcore 2180 and overclock it and then get gts 640mb i got untill the 26th this month to read up some more.

thanks
