Hello,

So I did my CCNA last year, and now everything Cisco has changed. The new CCNP looks completely different to what I've done, to the point where I feel like going back over the new CCNA. Is anyone else in a similar predicament or has experience with the old and new CCNA/CCNP and knows how different it is?

They consolidated a lot of the older tracks into more specialised exams, and changed R&S to Enterprise, but with the CCNP in particular I like the fact that you have the 'core' exam and then you can choose another one to get it, I am considering doing my DataCentre one and this is a much better way of doing it my mind, but I agree it's probably going to be challenging in terms of old versus new as there's probably a lot more ground to cover.

May well be worth you grabbing your Core CCNA again just to upskill any of the new stuff, or you could try a different track like the DC one?

I think having done the old CCNA puts you in good stead to do the new CCNP enterprise, more so than the new one at least. Obviously there are areas where you'll be less versed, security, wireless and especially network automation I imagine, but you should already be a step ahead and be familiar with a portion of the new CCNP objectives.

Tbh if I were you I'd do the advanced troubleshooting (t shoot varient) of CCNP first to get a 3 year validation on the CCNA. Its basically just compare the difference and doesnt have a whole lot more than switching and routing. Then grab the cert guide and go for CCNP core, the level it does anything that wasn't switching and routing is probably CCNA level from old certs and youll then have CCNP enterprise.
