Possibly a re-post but just seen this when loading up the ineternet here at work:

Honda’s Civic Type R has been much anticipated since the debut of the Civic Type S at the London Motor Show. While it retains the level of performance of the previous Civic Type R, it gets a more refined interior and handling tuned for better predictability and responsiveness. It is powered by a 201bhp 2.0-litre DOHC i-VTEC with drive-by-wire throttle that delivers maximum power output at 8,000 rpm.

The Type R is a 3-door hatchback, based on the Civic 5-door hatchback which provides the ideal platform for a high-performance version. The suspension is based on the Type S and further tuned, including lowering the ride height by 15 mm, adding a quicker steering ratio and fitting 225/40 ZR 18 wheels and tyres.

The Type R features bold styling is that includes deep front spoiler with a larger air intake, triangular fog lights whose shape mirrors the large exhaust tailpipes at the rear and a body-coloured rear spoiler that splits the rear tailgate glass. The front brake callipers have Type R logos and a honeycomb mesh grille replaces the glass panel grille of the Type S. Type R will go on sale in Europe in early 2007.

Personally I think it looks butt ugly (both front and back)

Any other thoughts

:(

I like it, it's got an ultra-modern, almost concept car look to it.

Also, it looks like it would go like **** off a Teflon shovel.

If I could afford it, think I'd happily buy one. Or at least, Id like to have a quick boot around in one :)

It prob wont tho, as it used the same powerplant as the old Type R, and this civic looks well lardy to me.Mind you i didnt think the last CTR was a looker.

I thought it had 198BHP (one more than the 197 the current has) not 201BHP?

Anyways, I've got a 55 reg Type R so I've been following the new one quite closely. Still not sure about it. A mate has a new style civic, and in the flesh I like the front, but hate the rear; I'm really undecided if I'll part exchange for one of these or look elsewhere. If I'm going to spend 18K on a car, then I really have to love it, and I am just not convinced by the rear of it at all :( Perhaps the drive will make it worth it.

I think it looks like a child's toy, not a car :p

The clear plastic on the front/back is just strange.

It'll probably drive fantastically a bit like the old one. Still more than bland though, truely a car for people on neat housing estates with office jobs. :/

Much like the old CTR then :)

It looks a bit fluffy, i'm sure it will appeal to all the 20something girls in the city that seem to be snapping up the current Type-R. 201bhp, pah. I jus bought the facelift edition of the Integra Type-R DC5/RSX imported from Japan and the spec is much better and looks far meaner than this thing: 220bhp 2L I-vtec, fast cam, lightened flywheel, lightened chassis, top speed 150+, 0-62 in 5.9 and sleek sporty coupe looks. Why on earth Honda refuse to sell this model in the UK i don't know (apart from honda execs saying they were worried it would seriously damage sales of the civic type-R).

Well i'm sure the civic type-r will sell well, and I look forward to overtaking it on the motorway (between cameras) LOL

Front looks gorgeous, the rear looks too high and too busy. The general feel of this new car is it's not a 'propper' Type-R but i'm sure it will appeal to the lads.
