New clutch?

Seriously what is the point in this thread/doing burnout's in a lupo or just any car/ and spending loads of money on a 1.4 lupo?

Just get a normal clutch and dont do burnout's tbqfh

Slow down now, I dont do Burnout's, I wheelspinned because my tires were **** although I have done wheelspin's since the wheels were changed but not on purpose;) ANYWAY I haven't worn my clutch out in over 9 months AND I haven't spent loads on my car when I know it isn't worth it!

Still wondering how £200 is loads of money?

Audio can be taken out for new cars, so i've spent about £200 so far. Considering i got the car for £2300, and have been offered £3300, i think i'm onto a winner :)

Suggesting a Sport Clutch for a Lupo? And also talking about getting the car to 135bhp?

Better spent than going out and getting drunk every day like some people i used to go school with.

I have something to show for my money :)

TBH if you saved that money and sold the lupo and bought a better, faster car on standard spec then yeah maybe, but tbh imo having a lupo at the end with around 135bhp (if that) at the top of its peak isn't really much to show for it.

Andy

Nothing wrong with that mate ;)

My fiesta gets loads of abuse and i meen loads ( New Eagle F1s did about 3000 miles :D ) and my clutch appears is ok ! To be honest i cant imagine the sports clutch being that much more expensive anyway so you might as well go for it

You're right, i'll sell my car for £3300 and buy a Lupo GTI for £6500 which is pushing 130 odd bhp. Thank you for your wisdom.

Or as you said on MSN, let me buy a civic. Only one worth having is a 1.6 VTI so please inform my insurance company that i would like to be ass raped right now please :)

Sam, it's £26 more. and apparantly will take a little bit more wear and tear.

The lupo isnt a bad car and if what he is saying is true 135 BHP isnt shoddy for a car of its weight. Wack some coilovers on it and you will be laughing.

My mate has a 1.4 8v polo with a set of coilovers, there not evan expensive ones and its simply mental. The speed he can corner at is nothing short of insane considering its a bog standard 1.4 polo.

Andy get some coilovers ;)

Sam

I'm worried how you're going to achieve 135hp without serious modification. I believe the limiter is at 6800rpm on these. Assuming you can push the power peak close to that, say 6500rpm, you're going to need nearly 150nm from a NASP 1.4 at power peak, which would create something like a 160nm torque peak. 115nm/L? An M5 doesn't have that!

Will do Sam, just seein what's about, will probably get some FK Konigsport coilovers, can get some for £350 which is cheaper than cheap.

I know someone who has done a few light mods, but has mainly striped out the inside of the car and is now pushing - 122bhp/102lbft @6650rpm - 165 bhp/ton.

As said, the majority of that is ripping the car to pieces for the track, not a great deal of engine mods on that.

I really will never understand why people spend so much money modifying their first car. Yes I loved my first car and spend a lot of time cleaning it, de-badging it, removing the rubbing strips, adding car audio etc, but I would never dream of spending large amounts of cash on it unless it was transferrable.

I had a 1.3L Suzuki Swift, and spending hundreds on it would still make it a 1.3L Suzuki Swift. It just isn't worth the effort to try and squeeze a few more measly hp out of a small engined relatively slow car, just put it towards your next car ;).

Out of interest what sort of total cost would all the performance modifications since stock come to?

Lupo 1.4 sport.

Pushing 107bhp w00t :P but new powerflow exhaust, bmc cda air filter, fse boost valve going on soon, so will be pushing around 135bhp with a remap too, so want a clutch to be able to take that :)

Andy

I doubt it, the FSE valve is a waste of money does absolutely nothing, and the filter exhaust and map may give you 10bhp ish .

120-125 at a push mate! not shoddy, but save your money and get a proper car. Enjoy the lupo for what it is. All this money could be going into your proper next car fund, rather than wasting it dragging 10bhp out of a lupo!

on the clutch front, the standard one should be fine unless it is a common issue on the car. Stop doing so many burnouts!!!

Can you list every performance modification you've made please, I have a 1.6 N/A mk4 Golf which is pushing 108bhp - I'd love to get the sort of increases you've seen for £600. Mine would be pushing what, 150bhp? Same as the 1.8T.

now The FSE valve is great topic of conversaion :)

if these are set up on a rolling road and done properly u will see gains... very much doubt u will see any on a 1.4 tho maybe 1bhp tops :P

Coilovers kick arse got um on mine :)

28bhp gain on an n/a with those mods is a little optimistic...

I have moded n/a cars in the past with those mods plus a few more and only seen 8-12bhp max.

Hope your not doing the typical max power mod theory where exhaust = 10bhp, air filter =10bhp etc..

My old 318i's clutch lasted 175k when I sold it (and its still going strong!)

Re-evaluate your gear change style. ;)

Most HGV clutches are good for 250k Miles, anything less is blamed - quite rightly - on bad drivers.

I'm off to screw mod my Dturbo! ;) Its funny though, exhaust and filter, even with more fuel and boost wouldn't see me 135bhp. You are being over optimistic there mate.

I've just looked and according to carfolio the lupo gti has the following -

Max. output
(DIN) 124.7 PS (123.0 bhp) (91.7 kW)
@6500 rpm
Max. torque
(DIN) 152.0 Nm (112 lbft) (15.5 kgm)

And if your car is the 1.4 FSI its this one yes?

Max. output
(DIN) 104.4 PS (103.0 bhp) (76.8 kW)
@6200 rpm
Max. torque
(DIN) 130.0 Nm (96 lbft) (13.3 kgm)
@4250 rpm

How is it going to get to 135bhp, when the GTI makes only 123bhp in 1600cc form?
