Hello, been a while since i've last upgraded, and thought now would be a good time.

I'm looking at the E6600 CPU, and want a good MOBO & memory to go with it.

Apart from that i've got a 7800 PCI-E, which i'm currently very happy with, but the old spec (below) needs upgrading.

AMD 3700, EPOX 9NPA w GeiL 2GB DC value.

I'm quite happy with the GeiL memory, and would certainly consider it again, however i want a much better motherboard this time round, i'd also need a cooler for the CPU.

£320 is my budget, could someone please do their magic and spec me up.

PS: I hear another price crash is around the corner, is this true? (if so could someone explain briefly why and by how much should i expect)

Ta. :D

The CPU and RAM will both overclock nicely. The motherboard is based on the new P35 chipset and will therefore be compatible with the upcoming Penryn CPU's.

'Penryn' is the codename for Intel's upcoming line of CPU's due towards the end of the year. There is a price cut as you say, on the 22nd of July. The Core 2 Duo range will be cut in price significantly, and some new CPU's will be added to the line-up. CLICK HERE! :D

Cheers for this info, gives me some time to save up.

A Q6600 for £150, and the mobo you suggested (meaning its Penryn compatible) sounds like a good plan in just over a month.

Also you went for Crucial, any reason, like i say i enjoyed my time with the GeiL but if one is significantly better than the other...

The Ballistix RAM clocks really well. Best RAM for the money at the moment.

The Crucial Ballistix range is seen as the best at the moment because of it's price/performance ratio, and it's high overclocking potential. To be honest though, you probably wouldn't notice any difference between Crucial and GeiL. Good luck mate. :D

Terrible news mate, I've never attempted an over clock in my life! :D :(

Didn't want to do it with my stock cooler on the 3700 i've got now, and in the end never got round to getting hold of a freezer 64 to have a bash at it.

If i got a nice new shiny system, then i certainly wouldn't be even attempting it.

Well it always does for a re sale. :D

Also what is the difference with the DS4 version of the mobo?

Sorry, also DS3P & DS3R? Difference?

Just i've seen the DS3R for £80

(Supports Intel® Core? 2 multi-core and upcoming 45nm processors)
