Hi guys,
First up let me admit to being a bit of a novice here. When it comes to what will give me the best performance I'm a bit useless, of course I've looked around the net and compared graphics cards and such. I really do not have the condifdence to put together a pc myself though, even if it means paying more for something slightly worse thats a good trade off for me...
From what I can tell there's no real reason to go for i7 as i don't do any video editting or anything fancy like that. So i5 all the way?
Basically I use my current PC, as follows. I use two monitors (if that even matters), use it for internet, generic office stuff and some games like WoW and AoE3, Starcraft 2 - nothing too cutting edge here!
My wife plays games as well. Most of the time I'd say it would have a game up and running and probably firefox on the other monitor.
This is getting a bit long, so let me say with this in mind I'm looking for a new tower (don't need any peripherals) that I can use mostly for the things mentioned above for close to £750. The best thing I've found so far is:
• Overclocking: Intel i5 professionally Overclocked to 4.00GHz from 3.40GHz included in the price - Optimised GLADIATOR Overclock profile saved in the BIOS provides unsurpassed processing power
• CPU: 4th Generation Intel Core (Haswell) i5-4670K Quad-Core Unlocked Processor - 6MB Cache
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 GDDR5 2048MB DirectX 11 Graphics
• RAM: 8GB PC3-12800C9 1600MHz DDR3 (2x4096MB) Dual-Channel Memory (32GB Supported) - Delivers unparalleled bandwidth
• Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z87-HD3 Intel Z87 Express Chipset Motherboard
• Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO Rev.2 Quiet CPU Cooler
• Audio: Onboard 2/4/5.1/7.1 Channel High Definition Audio
• Case: Corsair Carbide 200R Black Midi Tower Gaming Case
• PSU: 430W Corsair Builder Series 430CX 80PLUS Bronze Power Supply
• Optical Drive: LiteOn DVDRW Dual Layer DVD Rewriter (m-Disk Support) 24x DVD±R
• Solid State Drive: 120GB Samsung 840 Series SATA 6GB/s (SATA-III) Solid State Drive
• Hard Drive: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6GB/s (SATA-III) Hard Drive
• Operating System: No OS Pre-installed - **** Recommends Windows® Software
• INCLUDED Full 12 Month Collect & Returns Warranty
But I'm not confident enough to piece together components from overclockers or elsewhere, am I likely to do better than this build?
Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
James.
