New comp suggestions

First of all its been like 5 years since i built my last comp, back then it would have been top of the range high end gaming system, and its done its time, its time to move on up to the next gen, so im a little out of date with hardware, so bare with me on this.

Monitor

I have read a fair few reviews on both monitors, i am moving from a CRT ( yes i know but hey i love it ) but its time to change, someone said the 30" is to big, its going to be like 3 or 4ft from me so is it to big?

Coolers?

I know some guys will point blank not use the stock coolers, i dont really tend to overclock my comp, so do i need to get a new cooler for the CPU?

Case?

Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos Silent Full Tower Case <-- is that any good, i really need a case that does a good job of dimming the sound of the fans inside.

Also what are good cases for cable management, also i see a lot of cases now where the PSU is at the bottom of the case, is this ok with heat from it moving over the GFX/CPU etc etc

Memory?

According to OCUK the memory for the board should be 1.5V so what is good memory to get, also really stupid question but what is the difference in Tri Channel and Dual Channel, can Tri Channel memory run in the MB listed above

HDD-SSD?

I have a Raptor HDD sitting here that was never used, would i be best to just use that in a new system, or get an SSD for boot drive etc, there are so many with so many good reviews what is a good one,

The new system will be running Windows 7 64Bit i also hear that the new Win 7 supports most SSD's

Sorry for all reading this if your thinking, wow this guy has no clue :p like i said it has been nearly 5 years.
 
The Cosmo case is good, if you like the style then its your decision.

use the raptor, what size is it? if you can get a SSD too, and use the raptor for storage then that would be kick ass.

you need dual channel ram for all sandybridge cpus/motherboards, the triple channel memory is for socket 1336 systems.


Did you want a sli as an option on the motherboard? psu?
 
Might want to look at the Fractal R2 for quiet case. However the Cosmo is fine as well :)

Memory, you want dual channel kit, the Geil value stuff is good enough :)

You shouldn't really need to get a new cooler, but you might want to try and find a quieter one if you do want a silent build. Pick up one of the ones in the £20-40 bracket and see if you can find some quiet fans to mount onto them. Would probably not make too much difference, but it is an option.

As for SSD, I think the Crucial c300 is pretty good, but I'm also pretty sure the next intel/crucial SSD's are out sometime soon, so it might be worth waiting for them. Depends what kind of time frame you're looking at to get this up and running :)

SLI right now no, maybe later, i see the board only supports crossfire, should i change out to the Pro version, it supports SLI?

The PSU, i currently have is a 1Kw PC Power and Cooling one, designed for SLI, even at 4 years old it should still do the job, or do you think a newer one would be better.

Do the timings on the DDR3 memory matter a lot? I was going to use 8Gb in the new system.

As for the SSD, i can use a raptor for now no problem, and always get a SSD later when newer/better ones come out and install windows onto it and make it my new primary drive.

This systems main use will be gaming,

Does anyone have any input on the monitors?
 
My only concern with the dell 27" is its native res, of 2550x1440 just how small is that going to be on my screen, also if a game cannot support that res, would it look bad (pixelated etc etc)
 
Okies, so ive been reading the problems that the P67/H67 boards are having, and lets be honest, problem or not i dont want to spend all that money on a new system for it to have to be stripped down and replaced, so the main question is..

Do i wait until April until the newer ones are out and go with SandyBridge

or

Do i go with the stardard i7 cores.
