Hi guys I need to downsize my samsung s21 ultra which served me well for the last 2 years. Unfortunately I can't cope with the size anymore as I no longer use my phone for work. I need something small that fits inside of a pocket. Ideally I would like to retain as much as possible of camera quality followed by decent battery life to get me through a day.

Typically per day I spend 20 or so minutes on social media and watch Netflix on my lunch break for a hour or so, with Bluetooth music playing from spotify throughout the day.

I was thinking of iPhone 13 mini yet I'm worried that it won't last me a full day on one charge and camera would be too much of an downgrade over the s21 ultra. I never had iphone in my life so that also will be fun to adjust if I go for the 13 mini Any experience or other recommendations?

Many thanks

Sam

Mini 13 will be the smallest option, or
  • Pixel 5 from ebay
  • Asus Zenfone 8/9
  • S22/S23
  • Something really old like the Sony Zx compact
  • A tall narrow phone from Sony
  • A flip phone

zenfone 10 if you’re staying android or iPhone 14 if you’re iOS. 14 non max is not that big and actually easy to handle.

Xperia 5.. Great specs, very good cameras, great battery life.
I used to love Sony, but they never updated the OS. Have they got any better?
Looking at the OP - I'd say a Pixel 7a. I too hate large phones - 6"is there it's at (oooer).

The OS is okay. Its gotten better but still a few things that annoy me like the photo pro mode being a separate app (which I believe they've now sorted on newer phones).
I used to switch between galaxy s and whichever of Sony's compact phones (had z5 compact before a galaxy s9 and now the 5ii) and going to Sony after Samsung I would miss all the nice to haves (e.g. When abroad the Samsung would prompt the proper calling code to match the call being made, or generally their features would be better integrated with the rest of the OS).

I used to value Sony's clear skin though and lack of annoying apps, but Samsung got a lot better in recent years so I'm not sure whether I'll stick with Sony or just go for a galaxy phone next.

Off to jail you go...

I got a Pixel 6a the other week as my main phone had died. For £300, I'm happy. Pixels are famous for their good cameras. They're decent for the quick snapshots I've taken so far, and it's zipping along with my day-to-day usage. Battery life hasn't been particularly stellar, but I start the day with 80-90%, and end the day around 20-30%, so enough for a full day at least.

Would agree with this, also with google you will be good for the the next few years in terms of software updates.
