I was hoping to either get a Polestar 4 or new shape Model Y but they aren’t an option, so I’ve narrowed it down to either VW ID.7 Tourer or VW Tayron Plug-in hybrid.

I prefer the Tayron but it’s an extra ~£100 a month in BIK over the ID.7

Not sure I can justify £150 a month going up to £200 in year 3 vs £50 a month going up to £85 in year 3.

Has anyone got any experience with either, looking for help to decide

You need to @Tinders or if you want the other side of the coin @MrRockliffe perhaps for the ID.7. I think someone else has the Tourer as well. Test drove one really liked it, but wanted the pano roof and they wanted loads of extra cash so ended up giving it a miss, nice other than that.

Yep ive got the hatch/saloon ID7. Ive had it since october and came from a 330e. 20k miles later its still an absolute joy, bags of space in the cabin and boot if thats your thing. As an EV its efficient, smooth and the software just works. Its typical recent VW, its got the daft touch controls, but apart from the rear windows switch, none of thats been an issue.

Ive got the Match Pro 77kw, with all the packs, the pano roof is wasted on the driver tbh, rear passengers love it though, massage seats are nice. My only minor issue with some rattly trim took a while to be sorted, which was a tad annoying, but otherwise its been a pleasure to own.

The Tayron looks nice, but isnt it just a Tiguan with extra tiny seats in the back? I drove the Tiguan and the Passat PHEV's and whilst the range is better with the bigger battery, the engine feels every bit its 1.5l's!

I have a love hate relationship with the ID.7

When it works, it’s fantastic. However I’ve had nothing but trouble with it since I got it in October last year.

9 months in I still don’t have a repaired vehicle.

The worst bit is that VW have made me feel like I’m diseased, offering me no support whatsoever.

It was recently booked in again, 2 months after I picked up a broken car (supposedly fixed) which went in because it broke down completely.

They offered me a 1L polo as a courtesy car but couldn’t give me any indication how long they’d need to fix it this time - last time they had it for 5 weeks or so.

Had an EQE as a courtesy car after battling with them like crazy over an MG5 they originally gave me, which leaked water in the driver footwell if I tried to wash the windscreen.

I think over the course of a week I made in excess of 30 calls to VW dealer and head office trying to sort. In the end I had to go into the dealer while I had Covid and refused to leave until they made progress on sorting it for me.

Love the car, would never own a VW product again in my life due to how poorly I’ve been treated.

I physically can’t get the car booked into any dealer near me as none of them want it - don’t have the capability to work on electric cars.

If it works I think you’d love it. It’s a fab car and so efficient. I averaged 5.1 m/kwh on the way to work today on A roads.

If it doesn’t, you’d be in for a world of pain.

I don’t even have windows which work properly

Thanks for replying guys. I’m trying to get my company car band upgraded so I can get the Model Y, if not I’ll go with the ID7 Tourer.

It’s crazy that the ID7 Tourer is almost £10k more than the Model Y but they’ll let me have the ID7 and not the Model Y, it’s so frustrating!!

The ID7 is the better car tbh. I’d driven both for a few hundred miles before choosing the ID7.

If you want a suv shape try the Enyaq. Out of interest why the Tayron over the Tiguan, they are essentially the same car in PHEV guise ie no 3rd row rear seats in the Tayron.

If you want a bit more of a drivers EV take a look at the bmw I4.

I’m looking for the biggest boot space really, I think the Model Y is 855 litres where the ID7 Tourer is 605 litres.

The Tayron is just the new Tiguan Allspace with 705 litres
