New Company of Heroes patch - anyone having problems??

My CoH has patch has worked fine through Steam but a mate of mine who has the retail copy is having problems installing the patch!?!? :confused:

He keeps getting an error when he tries to run the patch saying that it cant find a valid install of the game!!

Has anyone else come across this with the retail version??

I downloaded the retail version of the patch and although it was a slow download, it installed fine.

Can I ask, did you have it installed in the default directory?? (C:\Program Files\ etc etc etc) or did you change it?

It patched it's self automatically from inside the game, so I didn't change anything mate.

I've always had problems with patching CoH. To the point it was almost unplayable and I couldn't get into MP.... Sold my retail versions after that.

Does this work fine with Steam though? or is it still just as annoying? I may concider re-buying from Steam if it auto patches etc

Steam auto-patches everything!!!

Given the nightmare that the retail patches seems to be - I'd happily pay double to have it on Steam!!

(although I think I paid about £2.50 for it on a Steam deal!!!!

)

The only downside seems to be the game fully re-downloads (4.4GB) as opposed to just the patch (158MB)

Doesnt bother me as I'm not capped but it will probably annoy some!
