Hi guys.

Im currently selling my old pc components on an auction site, im looking to a intel dual core setup. Some of the bits im keeping from my old setup.

Here are the bits im keeping (Unless Complications occur) :

PSU: Hiper Type R 580W (HPU-4K580)
Case : Antec Sonata
HDD: WD Raptor 74Gb
DVD/CD RW: Some Hitachi thing.

Ok.

Here is the setup im thinking about upgrading to including the bits above.

CPU : Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.13GHz (1066FSB)

Heatsink/Fan : Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)

Motherboard : Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2

Memory : OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual
Channel DDR2

Graphics Card : BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
(PCI-Express)

OR BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
(PCI-Express)

Which ever card you think would be worth it.

Ok, Here are my questions.

1, Which card do you think i should opt for ?.

2, Would it be worth me getting another Raptor or Add a 150 GB version
instead and use my 74gb for extra storage

3, Will the BFG GPU fit in my case ?

4, Will my current PSU power the GPU ok ?

5 Is there any other components you would include ? (faster cpu, better gpu
etc)

My budget is up to £700.

Thanks for bearing with me on this, and taking the time to help. This is a lot of money to me and i want to get it right.

over to you guys :-)

Youve specced some very good parts and will be much quicker than your X2 setup especially when overclocked.

With the hard drives id suggest what ive done - The 74Gb Raptor partitioned as a 25Gb C: driver and the rest for D:

So youve got a 25gb windoes partition and the rest for games

Then a 250Gb drive of your choice ( i chose samsung as there quiet ) but the seagate 7200.10 is a good choice - with 2 partitions one used as storage and the other for gerneral programs etc

Missed them lol

1 - If you can afford the 640Mb then go for it - id maybe drop the mobo down to a 650 instead of the 680 to fit it inot budget

2 - Get another drive fpr storage similar to what i do above

3 - Not 100% sure - theres a thread in case central about 8800 compatable cases so ask in there

4 - Should be fine but they do tend to fail quite a lot

5 - Everything looks fine - If youve got a spare £50 then an X-Fi might me nice or maybe a nice new DVDRW

Yeah i agree with you there. Id recommend the corsair 520w or the tagan 530w easycon. both decent psus and i cant hear my tagan at all :)

If it were my money:

And let the Hiper run it's course.

Oh, and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-003-SY + some thermal paste.

Yeah i like that.

Is there any real performance difference between that PC6400 Ram and this ram

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual
Channel DDR2

The PC2-8500 is of course quicker, but to be perfectly honest it's not going to be something you'll actually notice while running apps or playing games. 6400 really is more than adequate.
If you've got another few quid to spend, my choice would be to either upgrade the CPU to an E6400 or buy a decent aftermarket cooler such as the Scythe Ninja. Or both. :)

Edit - Typo fixed

Hmmm.

I have just seen the Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 for the same money as the P5B,

I like the idea of using SLi in the future, is this a good board ?

Yeah it is, but bear in mind you'll need up to 700W if you were to invest in a second 8800 card. IMO one is enough anyway. Could just sell it later if ever you need to upgrade.
