Hi - I'm new to the forums as you'll notice but not new in that I've used this forum to check best parts overall.

Quad Core 2.4 G0
Ip35 Pro
Geil 6400 4gb ultra low latency
hd3870 graphics
Vista Premium
Corsair PSU
Thermaltake si Cooler

I've assembled all the bits last Friday and they work !!

I've currently got the CPU @ 3.01 Ghz

Just thought I'd say thanks to all the forum users for helping me - through reading - to get the right components.

Obviously some of the components are up for debate eg the hd3870 but I like it. :D

Thanks again

Everything works very well yeh, then graphics could have been a 8800GT but money may have limited you. Overall, a very good system!!

Hi - well when I bought the item the 8800GT wasn't in stock also my experience has been better with ATI plus it was meant to run cooler than the GT but apparrently not as cool as assumed.

I have a slight problem for some reason when I started to overclock the system the fan on the Thermaltake si-128 started to slow down overall.

Not sure why that is - at the mo I've turned up the minimum fan percentage on uguru from 30%(i think it was) to 60% to get the same fan revs.

I saw all the recommendations for nigh on all the items . I wanted a good one- yeah thanks. :D

Reckon you could get more out of your Cpu , mine does 3.2 with out even trying . but its upto you how far you want to push it ;)

Yeah I want to get more out of it.

There have been slight issues that have made me think 'oh know!" . I don't know if many people are like that when they make a computer but I've been thinking 'when is the computer going to have problems' almost in a paranoid way lol.

I've got it to the fastest today which is now 3.04ghz . I've just sorted out the cpu fan problem that I had - basically the fan I have is a 120mm pwm fan which as soon as I started to overclock started to slow down relative to the uguru fan percentages eg. before the overclock at startup the fan was at 600rpm 50% of full speed - after an overclock it was from 300rpm to 0rpm . I was thinking perhaps I need to put more voltage into something so wasn't easy for me because I'm sure I didnt need to and it didnt seem quite right.

I have since read that a pwm fan plugged into motherboard with its own pwm controller causes a conflict and makes the fan slow down - I hope that the info was correct that I read:rolleyes:

I disabled the fan controlling 'pwm ' function on the motherboard and it seems sorted it out for now albeit with the fan running at full speed.

Have others had this problem??????
