Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stewart :) Welcome to the forums.

That's a very good system you've compiled. The only things I can think of with that computer is why did you choose an IDE drive specifically for the system drive? Any reason it's not SATA? Also I'd get the black version of the Pioneer 112D if you are getting that case just for matching-colours-sake. You may also want to consider a P35 motherboard such as the Abit IP35, Asus P5K or the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R... mainly for futureproofing a bit more instead of the 965P chipset board which you've listed (even though the Quad GT is a lovely board).

If you are also planning on doing a lot of work on the system in regards to typing, then might I suggest something a bit more ergonomic for the keyboard such as MS Ergonomic 4000, I personally bought one of these for the amount of typing I do and it's helped a lot... plus it's not half bad for gaming :)

Other than that, very nice system!

Thanks for your quick reply.
The way adobe premiere works is that you need to have the program and the scratch disks on different controllers. Now im assuming that you can only have 1 raided hdd system in the computer (2 x 500Gb + 1Tb).
so to have the program on sata's i would not be able to use the raid, they would have to be seperate drives. If im wrong then correct me as it would be nice to have all sata's in the system.
Is there i big difference in the speed of the hdd's if it is raided?
As for the color of the dvd - lol, my bad :}

Hmm, well something like the Gigabyte board as mentioned above has 2 different controllers for it's SATA... one is controlled by the ICH9R and the other is controlled by a seperate JMicron chip on the board, if that helps at all. If that isn't your cup o' tea, then you could definetly consider a PCI SATA card which may be better for you as if your motherboard dies or you change motherboard, you don't have to wipe the data and recreate the array as the array is stored on the PCI card. Then you could use the onboard ports for your system drive which won't hold particularly crucial documents.

Raid0 yes, Raid1 probably not a lot.

The gigabyte board does look good, as for the raid or mb going down, Thats why im getting the external hdd. I have one at the moment (40gb lol) all the inportant data will be stord on that drive.
the avi file size for 4 minutes of footage is 1 gb, hence the need for large drives and the raid.
So if i can get two raids, 1 system drive and 1 scratch drive that would be great.
