New Computer - Please Help - Purchase Wednesday

Im currently trying to spec a new computer - I have a budget of roughly £1000 - I need a monitor and Vista premium. This is what I have so far, I'm not sure whether to go for the Intel Core2 processors or the Athlon AM2 ones.

Antec Sonata Designer Quiet Case - EarthWatts 500W PSU
86.94

Windows Vista 64bit Home Premium
64.61

Samsung SM-931BW 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor
164.49

Western Digital Caviar RE 250GB *2
86.92

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB
193.86

GeIL (2x1GB) PC8500C5 1066MHz Black Dragon
117.49

Pioneer DVR-112DBK 18x18 DVD±RW
19.96

This comes to a total of 747.15 including VAT and delivery - so I have around 250 for a motherboard and processor with cooler.

Could you please give me some ideas as to what to buy for the best performance and the greatest upgradeability - and If my above choices are ok.

Thanks,

Mark

You havent mentioned a hard drive there - Id prefer two identical drives so I can mirror RAID them.

Could you also explain why you have swapped some of my hardware choices - are the ones you have chosen better?

Thanks,

Mark
