New Computer: "Infinity Tesseract" vs. Self Build

Hi All,

I really like OC's "Infinity Tesseract" and so I started to work with the system "Configurator" on various websites. Anyway long story short I think I may be able to build a better computer by myself but I'm not sure.

I don't know much about computers and their parts but I've built 4 gaming machines so far with success for other people.

I was wondering if you could take a look at my new build and tell me how it measures up against the "Infinity Tesseract".

My potential build: (UPDATED)

Case - Corsair Carbide Series Air 540

CPU - Intel® Six Core i7-4930K (3.4GHz Overclocked to 4.4GHz)

Motherboard - Asus Rampage IV Black Edition Intel X79, 2011, R.O.G

RAM - 32GB Kingston Hyper-X Fury Dual-DDR3 1600MHz (4 x 8GB)

GPU - 6GB Nvidia Geforce GTX Titan Black - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP (x 3)

HDD - 1TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR | 520MB/sW) x 2 (in Raid 0)

PSU - Corsair 1200w Pro Series Platinum AX1200i

OS - Windows 8.1

Cost of Build roughly £4500

Obviously the clockspeed (if that's the right term?) is slower than the "Infinity Tesseract" and it doesn't come pre-watercooled. However could I add waterclooing myself? If so what would I need I'd like to buy from OC's.

How does it compare to the Infinity Tesseract?

Intel Core i7 4770K Overclocked to at least 4.7GHz, Gigabyte Z87X-OC Motherboard, TeamGroup Vulcan 8GB 2400MHz RAM, 2x R9 290X in Crossfire, Black & Orange Braided Cabling, Full Custom Watercooling.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Serge

I would say ditch the 240gb asus raidr, as you are getting 2 1tb ssd in raid 0, when you put them in raid it almost doubles their speed, so they will be faster than the asus one and have far more space, and even if they are not faster, I highly doubt you would see any difference between the two.
Asides from that I will let others guide you on the rest, but I will add, do you rally need 3 Titan blacks? It might be better to drop 1 and get a fantastic screen(no idea what you are using at the moment), no point having 999fps if your screen looks like mud.

Plus don't forget a non stock air cooler if you are not watercooling.

I presume that you are looking for a 4K system with all the gpu horsepower ?

Also as mentioned above, what monitor are you using ? Or are you looking to buy a 4k monitor as well ?

Thank you all for the replies and sorry for my late reply I was busy.

What is the purpose of this build?
Seem to be spending a lot, without water cooling or a monitor?

I have a 4K display an "Asus PQ321QE 31.5" 4K UHD monitor" and the purpose of this build is to play games on it. I've used it with my Mac and it's very nice but haven't tested it with anything serious games wise yet.:)

I agree it is quite a bit of money to spend but I have the funds to do so it's not a hardship.

As for water-cooling I have no experience with it and don't know where to start that's one of the reasons I was attracted to the pre-built machine from OC's.

I don't know what I would need to spend on a water-cooling kit but I'd say I have another £1000 if needed to equip my machine with water-cooling.

Alright I had planned on using the 240GB solely for the OS but after doing some reading I will heed your advice thank you very much.

would he not be better getting GTX 780's OR r9 295's

Good question! I had considered the AMD GPU's but gathered from what I had read that the Titans had the edge but I could be wrong would love other peoples opinions.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. :)
