New computer is noisy, best options to solve this?

Hi, so after building a watercooled computer and being thrilled by it I am now starting to build up a list of pet peeves with it.

The main one is that despite maintining idle temperatures of 25-34c it is constantly making an irritating hum which is low noise but loud enough to irritate me. I have tried to reduce the fans speed in the ASUS UEFI and edit the curve but it only lets me reduce the speed a certain level. The fans in use are Corsair SP120 Quiet Editions and the system noise level is stable so it doesn't get any louder or quieter when gaming/encoding etc.

So any ideas/suggestions on this are greatly appreciated :D
 
i dont know too much about water cooling but could it be the pumps or something else vibrating against the case?

are you able to narrow down where its coming from?
 
I don't think its the pump as I have the pump on a the lowest setting and it is as isolated as it will ever be and it is still producing the same noise :confused:
I think it's the fans on the radiators so I suppose I'll narrow the question down to "how to deal with Corsair SP120 noise":D
 
Try unplugging the fans for a few seconds & see if the noise is still there. If it is, then it's the fans. If it stops it's the pump.

Sometimes the fans can make a humming sound if running very slowly, & sometimes they are actually quieter when running at a faster rpm.
 
Okay, after unplugging the fans the PC becomes near-silent so it is definitley the fans that are causing the hum/whirring noise. Do you have any ideas on the best method to fix this such as a fan controller etc? :)
 
Are they PWM? if so Y split them and put them into the CPU fan header by extension. You can control the speed manually in the bios then. Set them by % to whatever is comfortable. You can get a fan controller aswell which will do the same thing.

Is it a certain fan making the noise or just all of them? Try stopping one at a time and see if one is causing the noise, could be vibrating the case for example. What fans are they?

The fans are SP120s. They are currently wired up to the fan controller which came with my phanteks case. They are DC but the controller converts PWM signals to DC. As for the noises from each fans I'll check each one individually as soon as I can. :)

Have you tried running them a little quicker and see if the hum goes?

Some fans make funny noises when they aren't getting the correct voltage and spinning too slow.
 
I have sp120 too and aquaero 6 pro and I tried to reduce humming noise and I found that it's the best to run them at 550 I tried lower but humming becomes louder. I dont know if this are faulty fans or design issue. You can try to run them at this rpm, I find it to work for my. I got cm storm trooper windowed edition.
