If there is anything which is not right or something i should change i would be thankful.

Thanks in advanced.

The Reason for the expensive computer is becuase of the previsous computers spec. i will not be getting another one for 3 Years. so i felt i might as well get a good one.

Previous Specs:

P4 3.4GHz Prescott HT | 2Gb DDR400 Single Channel | 7300GT AGP, 256MB DDR2, 400Core, 700Memory. | 500Gb HDD | Gigabyte AGP Motherboard (Cant Remmember the Specs.) | 550W PSU

Hey Exlr8ed Welcome to the Forums. Nice spec but i would be inclined to change a few things.

That PSU is a bit of a overkill for that system, the Corsair 520 will be plenty.

If your looking to overclocking the Quad you might want to change that cooler to something better, like the Noctua.

The case is up to you but i would personally go for something like the Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case, great build quality and great cooling.

The Memory is fine but i dont like the fact that it has no heat spreaders. Something like the OCZ will do you fine and it comes with decent heatspreaders already.

That motherboard is a good board but not really needed if your not going SLI. If your thinking about SLI i would sway away from it since it dosent really offer much over a single card solution since most games dont take advantage of a SLI configuration.

The dvd drive is good but change it to a SATA one, you can cancel the IDE controller and it will help with cooling within your case.

Last thing the Ultra is a bit of a waste, if only offers a few FPS more. A GTX will be fine.

Here you go:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink
Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case - No PSU

Total : £1,274.70

Also a lot cheaper.

Couple of other things though. If your not going to overclock the system and only be using your system for games, surfing the internet stuff like that, the Quad will be a bit of a waste. I would change it to a Core 2 Duo E6850. Will offer much better performance overall.

Hey & Welcome to OcUK

Spec is reasonable for a first try :) Few things I would change though.

# The PSU is overkill for the system, you only really need a decent 500W to power that lot. Recommendation

# Wait until 22nd of July and that processor will near enough halve in price thanks to Intels price cuts.

# Maybe bump up the cooling abit, the quad cores run quite hot - would say definitely get a Tuniq Tower/Noctua if you planning to OC. Bare in mind that the Noctua's don't fit on motherboards with heatpipes but the Tuniqs do.

# If I was you I would get a P35 mobo and save some money on that, however people may disagree. Recommendation. This board will also support DDR3 for future compatibility.

# The optical is not a SATA drive, IDE is slower and slows pc @ boot. Would change it to the SATA version of the same drive. LINKY

# As i'm sure everyone here will back me up on, the ultra's are a complete waste of money and give none/very little boost in games and are not worth the extra money IMO. Bump the GFX down to a BFG/EVGA/OcUK GTX, they make very little difference however BFG has a lifetime waranty and the EVGA a 10 year.

EDIT: Curses stickroad

EDIT 2: I wouldn't get the 1066MHz ram, its a waste of money and some of the 4gb kits clock to similar speeds.

Ok Thanks mate. i was looking over what i got in my basket and i changed the motherboard to a "Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard" but i would like to know what speed can it run DD2, can it run 1066 like most of the over P35's? and would it be able to cope with 1600 DDR3?

EDIT: I Read what it says on the motherborad :\ lol, 1066DDR2 and 1066DDR3, there is no difference! :O i can only see that the DDR3 has a lot higher timings.

Thanks for your Time.

Here is my new specs:

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK)

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Soundcard (PCI) - OEM

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail !!!! OR !!!! Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz (1333FSB)

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk (66R-00838)

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)

Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM

Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Its now £200 lighter :D

I put the Q6600 Or E6850 Becuase i read the post about the price drops and they are going to be similar in prices.

Thanks.

Yes that motherboard will be able to handle that Memory. Are you going to be overclocking?

If you are, change that CPU Cooler to the Noctua or Tuniq Tower.

Also change the memory to the OCZ 6400 2X2GB.

What will you use your pc for?

The computer will be used for:

- Surfing the Net
- Coursework
- Gaming - WoW, CoD2, CS:S

I will not be overclocking at all. But i would like preformance parts. like 1066 Ram, becuase i would like to has the best possible computer without going into extreme DDR3 Charges. I won't Need the Cooler but the 4GB could come in useful :D

Thanks.

In that case you will be far better of with a Core 2 Duo E6850.
