Hi there Overclockers!

Normally when it came to buy a new computer it would be off to the store to get a premade one. However, this year I spent my work experience at Overclockers and it got me hooked on system building. Since then I have built for 3 of my friends...

Anyway, the time has come for me to get rid of my Sempron 3000+ PC (which, to be frank, is awful). Budget is £350 for the rig (which my Dad is paying for) and then I buy GFX and whatnot.

This is what I was thinking for the main rig:

Any improvements made to that list would be appreciated.

I already have - Peripherals, Win 7, DVD R/RW.

For graphics I thought that seeing as my monitor's native resolution is only 1280x1078 a 5770 would be enough? I was also going to buy a cooler so if anyone could suggest an effective, relatively cheap one which would allow me to overclock a little.

Thanks for any help :)

Or a cheap intel build, could get a 460 for this then, i know overkill but you never know.

The only reason I'm really getting a new computer is because I keep borrowing my Dad's Q6600. However, it's a good excuse to upgrade graphics from *prepare to be amazed* Radeon X1650.

So yeah, quad core is necessary. If it wasn't though I would almost definitely go for an i3, they overclock like crazy.

Sorry for double post but here is what basket looks like now:

Embarrassingly discovered that my old DVD RW will not work because it is connected using IDE. Quick google search discovered that IDE-SATA costs as much as a new drive so yeah.

In my basket there is the Powercolour 5770, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler, Arctic Silver 5 3.5 grams paste.

I will put them in the same basket eventually to save on shipping, but any improvements that can be made?

Sorry for bumping this up again.

Hopefully ordering this tomorrow, but my Dad would like to know what advantages the suggested motherboard holds over the one I originally picked.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: Just realised the board in question is now out of stock...

Could someone please suggest an alternative?
