I'm looking into buying a new PC and was wondering whereabouts to start I currently have a some what decent computer, but I feel as if the time has come to upgrade. My budget is somewhere around £800-£900 and I just want an all round gaming/rendering PC. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi TeeJay,

Please list what parts you could re-use from your current PC. And if you need Windows, new monitor, etc.

Hi, parts that I could re-use are:
-Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM 16MB 6GB/S
-Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB 2x2GB (Would like to go upto 8GB or more however)
-DVD 22x DVD±RW
-Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit)
-Iiyama ProLite E2273HDS

That's about it for what I could re-use

I've also got a i5 3570k That I'd be able to use if it's worth it? Cheers.

Yeah, id certainly use the 3570k if you have it lieing around.

You can get a good Z77 board second hand cheap or check out OCUK's b grade section. :)

Is the 3570K out of your current system?

It would be more helpful to list your current system spec.
Do you do a lot of rendering?

No the 3570k is off my brother and is just sat around, Haven't done anything with it as of yet. and I don't do tonnes of rendering just little bits here and there mostly photos.

In that case, as Doomed said earlier, a decent "B" grade board will be ideal.
So your budget will get you a pretty decent system.
Any idea of the type of case you want/like?
Are you looking at a single Gpu or are you likely to want to add a second at a later date. Helps to spec you the right mobo.

Okay thanks for the advice :) I'll probably stick to a single GPU and I haven't really give a case a though I currently have a Antec 300 but I' really like to upgrade to something with a bit more to it.

If you already have an i5 3570k, I'd build your new system around that CPU. Do you not have a GPU from your old system? What about a case? or are you planning on buying everything new (apart from that 3570k obviously).

I've got a Gigabyte 7950 I forgot to mention, it still seems like a really capable GPU. But at the minute It's running along side a i3 2100, I just want a new system with a bit more of kick to it.

Mate that's a cracking card, yeah it's not the latest gen, with all the bells and whistles etc, but it's still a very powerful card, and will me perfect for your new build. You'll get a load more out of it once it's paired with your i5 3570k :)

That gpu should be pretty solid for awhile, it is basically the 280, so a 280x/290 will be a small bump so you could keep it for awhile. I've spec'd a nice case, the motherboard doomed' spec'd, and a somewhat blue build :D. Given you already have a GPU/CPU and few other parts your pretty solid. the PSU is also big enough to get another 7950 of the Members market if you do need more power.
