I'm planning to build a new computer for under £1000

Antec Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLi
Intel Q6600 Non-Slacr
Kingston HyperX 4GB 1066MHZ
Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU
Point of View GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3
£842.39 :)

I just need some help, I honestly havn't got a clue,
Also this is my first computer build so I obviously need some help :p

Thanks,
Tiseh!

Welcome to the forum! I would suggest getting an intel board, an Asus P5Q maybe. They seem to be the mid range board of choice at the mo. Could save a few pennies by dropping the ram down to some good 800mhz too. Everything else looks pretty good imo, although there is no hard drive or cpu cooler listed

I was thinking of an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 CPU Cooler and a cheapy 500GB Diamondmax Hard drive, Thanks for your opinion by the way :)

Is the Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 a good Mobo?
Also does it support SLI? It says it supports Crossfire, But I don't know if that applies to SLI As well?
Also if needed I'll Get the Asus P5Q Deluxe

Also I've dropped the Kingston HyperX's and gone with Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX 800MHZ

Yeah the P5Q is a real good board, plenty of threads on here bout the P5Q series. It does NOT support sli however, just crossfire. ATI seems to have 'won' this gen anyhoo, the 48xx series is v.good too. Imo i think its preferable to stick with the fastest single card you can afford anyway, that way you dont need to rely on scaling etc. A GTX 280 will run everything on its own and work fine on an intel board.

For SLI you need to use the Nvidia chipset, Intel chipsets support crossfire the P35, P45, and the X range.

Alright, I don't go upgrading quickly anyway, I usually just buy a new computer, way easier :p,

I think I'll go with these and now you can give advice on these

Intel Q6600 Non Slacr
Corsair 4GB TwinX 800MHZ
Antec 1200
Corsair 650W PSU
Intel P5Q Deluxe
Maxtor Diamondmax 500GB Hard Drive
Point Of View 280GTX Graphics Card

One More Question,

The Intel P5Q DDR2 is £152
And the P5Q3 DDR3 Wifi-N is also £152,
Shouldn't I go for the P5Q3?, Or :P

Thanks,
Tiseh

Well DDR3 ram is still pretty pricey compared to DDR2 with not much gains. Personally i would stick with DDR2 ram and board. Also the samsung spinpoint hard drives are v good and relatively cheap. Buying a whole pc is easier but no way near as fun!

The P5Q pro is £111 on OCUK but I've seen it going for £98. If you got for the DDR 3 mobo you will also have to spend more money on DDR 3 RAM.
