So after the debacle with Sky (no it's not sorted) I'm looking for a new connection. Virgin I don't think is available where I am so I'm pretty much looking at BT or Plusnet. Plusnet want to charge me £75 before I'm even connected (£50 setup fee!) so BT Infinity 1 (£35 setup) is seeming like my best bet.

Just wanted to get some people's thoughts and see if there are any smaller providers I'm missing.

BT Infinity 1 is 40GB limit I believe.

You're right. Well, whichever one is 30mb and unlimited. Just looked at Zen but they can't tell me online if it's available here. Seems a very good deal to pay £2.50 to double your speed though. It sounds on the site like it's available wherever BT fibre is.

I was considering moving to plusnet but i read that BT has bought plusnet so whats the point in moving right? I am trying to get away from BT... I think i am going to move to zen. Its not the cheapest but i can get "business class" line for same price as BT.

It's not a new thing - Plusnet have been owned by BT Group since 2007.

The customer service is completely different - no foreign call centres for example.

Good luck with that for the most part - BT Openreach (again a separate business) are normally involved somewhere along the line (Unless you are served by Virgin etc)

It shows on the site as me not having a compatible phone service and tells me I'll need to have that too, no mention of a discount though.

That's strange as I moved a line from sky to plusnet and only had to pay the months line rental and fibre internet for a month plus the delivery charge for the router.

Maybe it's because you moved from Sky? I'm not connected to anything right now according to sky, but they did send me an email at 4.45 this morning saying my router is on the way. You couldn't make it up.
