Right i have finally decided it is time to bite the bullet and get rid of my trusty old s939 system and upgrade to a conroe rig, therefore i have a few questions as to which parts to look at getting -

Firstly the cpu:

Either a 6300 or a 6400? is the 6400 worth the extra and what is the average overclocks for these cpu's?

The ram:

Will need to be 2gb, but what make and spec? Been looking at the Geil pc6400 is this any good? only want to spend £160/£170ish... ?

The mobo:

Would like to spend about £100 on the mobo, would preferably like a sli/crossfire compatible one? And have heard the DS3 one mentioned to be good for the price, is it?

Thanks for any replies

Goody

I'd say the average clocks for the E6300/400 are about 3.2-3.4GHz, the 6400 you could probably push to 3.5GHz. Personally I'd go with the 6300.

Not sure about the RAM and motherboard; I'm still deciding myself which ones to get for my next upgrade :/

So after a bit more research i find that the DS3 is not crossfire compatible, so that leads me to the DS4, what kinda overclock am i likely to expect with a 6300 and a DS4 ?

The DS3 and DS4 are basically the same motherboard so any clocks you could expect on one the other should be able to match. i.e. as Lolcb says pretty much, it does depend on the quality of your Ram, PSU and CPU cooler. :)

Cool i would preferably like it around the 3.0 ghz mark, so the DS4 is sounding like a worthy contendor

Any other mobo's to consider that would be good paired with a 6300 and decent ram ?

So i have came up with the following :

C2D E6300

Gigabyte DS3

Geil 2Gb pc6400 800 mhz ultra low latency

Total - £406 delivered

What does everyone reckon, anything i should change or spend a bit more on ?
