After much self-debate I've just decided I'm going to take the plunge, and have ordered the base model 13" MBP and an iPod Touch 8GB. I've never owned anything Apple before, so this will be quite the experience. I plan to add an extra 4GB RAM, and then once Lion comes out I'll put in an SSD.

Wish me luck! :D

Lol you've never even owned an iPod before.... you sound like my grandad

No, I'm nothing quite that bad lol I've always just preferred more open technology. :p But I finally caved after trying some things out at the Apple store. I've craved a MBP ever since; the iPod Touch was just a bonus. So here I am. :)

I just hope I'm not disappointed lol

never had anything Apple ? ...

Have you been living under a rock?

:D

Well it might seem that way to you pre-converts. But when you think about it, for us Windows and Linux users, aside from the iPhone and iPod there's nothing else to buy really. Since I already have and love my Android phone, and have always used my phone for music, it's not exactly hard to avoid Apple stuff.

Until now. :)

Yes. The MBP's from late 08 to mid 10 take PC3-8500 (1066). The new early 11 take PC3-10600 (1333). Although remove the competitor link before a moderator sees it.

Are they classed as competitors? They're the actual manufacturer - surely no more a competitor than linking to Apple or Microsoft (who also sell Windows like OcUK etc)?

I'd have thought since Crucial sell memory from their website then yes, they're a competitor. Linking to Apple is fine since OCuK isn't an Apple reseller or distributor.

No, but MS definitely is and OcUK sell a lot of MS products. Even the mods link to MS sites. Interesting one. :D
