New cooler doesn't seem to fit

Hi all

I recently purchased a Cryorig M9 Plus for my AMD RYZEN build, today I got everything out the box and started to put it all together and for some reason it doesn't seem to fit... It says it supports AM4 but when I went on YouTube the guys video had an AMD upgrade kit, is that something I need then?

Rather annoying if so as I'm now back to stock cooler

Any pics? The guide shows it supports AM4, the mounting plate has the AM3 and AM4 holes.

Not got any pics I'm afraid, maybe I was doing something wrong as I did notice the holes that are labelled AM3 and AM4

AM3 holes are green, AM4 holes are red in below drawing.

Hope that explains it.

Ahhh that's where the problem is, I don't have those silver fittings, I may have to order... I have that bracket though

Cryorig doesen't/didn't sell / give free upgrade kits without both being included. So if your kit has that black plate with connecting holes in each corner, the silver fittings are part of the kit. Send OcUK (I assume you got cooler from therm) a note and I'm sure they will get it sorted.

Just checked box, no silver fittings like the above so I will message OCUK see what they can do or recommend

I don’t tihnk you need those 4 pieces for AM4, you should have 4 long bolts that go through the rear of the motherboard holes, via the backplate, then on the top side, you fit the second mounting plate over the bolts, then use the 4 small thumb nuts to secure it all together, then you attach the heat sink

As you can see in the guide, remove all the amd stock plate and mounting hardware and replace with the cryorig version.

When i put the front bracket on, are the long bolts suppose to go the whole way through or just to the end of the thread?

the threaded part should stick through enough so you can secure the top bracket on with the included thumb screws, you have to make sure the bolt heads are orientated so they sit in the hole on the backplate, otherwise if they aren’t in flush It might not mount properly.

I could only find this video with the AMD style, but should be what you need.

UPDATE GUYS

Managed to fit the cooler today, turns out I was being abit of a muppet and didn't read instructions properly

Done some tests and I'm actually suprised by the new temps

Highest temperature while testing was 61°C and in PUBG it didn't go higher than 50°c

Thanks for the update, always like it when people provide and update ha. So you had all the pieces you needed in the end. Are the instructions difficult to read or was it a schoolboy error? Those temps look awesome, what Ryzen are you running on?

Instructions are clear enough, i just find it easier when instructions are written aswell as pictured All parts were in the box it was a schoolboy error by myself...

Im using the cooler on a Ryzen 2600 stock clocks.
