Hi, so i recently bought a new system and got the cougar GX 600W gold power supply , looked decent for the price for my needs anyway but i've noticed that the 12V especially is a little too high possibly? not sure if this is normal if anyone can chime in? really dont want to have to send it back.

Was that just one time only or its constanly working at that range?
Based on ATX Specs max is 12.6 so its at borderline.....
You can use GPU-Z and leave it running during gaming session or benchmarking then in gpu-z > sensors click on arrow next to 12v and choose min or max and see whats the mininum and maximum values are...
well AIsuite shows it constant not that i've ever trusted it but it must be accurate to some extent? ill try gpuz now

EDIT wiat the 12V is for the GPU only? if so i dont have one connected currently, just using the igpu for now till i "need" a dedicated gpu again, in which case its basically not detecting the 12v and possibly asus default this?

So i was testing with prime95 just to stress it properly, I noticed that the hotter the cpu got the lower the 12V line came down as well as the 5v which was about 5.080, i got it to show 12.380 but as soon as its back to mostly idle (couple tabs open in chrome) it goes back up to 12.576. I'm wondering now if theres some UEFI setting I need to change or something. At 1st I thought it could be because I got a 5.2ghz OC on my 8700k but i reset everything back to default and the 12v line didnt change.

Yeah just odd with the cpu vcore riseing meaning 12V drops, my old psu was around 12.2. just a bit worried it could shorten the life span of my motherboard and cpu being so high https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cougar-gx-v3-600w-80-plus-gold-modular-power-supply-ca-000-cu.html this is the exact psu, the thing im noticing now is the cables i got with mine are just standard sleaved cables not the ones shown in the photo which are flat cased. So i'm wondering whats up with that also since it was film sealed on arival :/

hmm well thats the one in my basket that i ordered, checked the back of the box and it says "advanced modualar cables flat design" im wondering if this was a return and someones just thrown in their old crappy cables -_-

the plot thickens, never bothered to look before, but the power cable supplied is some EU thing... good thing i never swapped my old one out from the mess behind my desk... and after some investigtion

"It’s actually illegal for UK retailers to sell most domestic electrical products (not for example shavers, electric toothbrushes or items with rcd plugs) with two-pin plugs under the Plugs and Sockets Safety Regulations 1994. " not sure if that goes for psu's i'm assuming it would though. not saying OC is at fault, but somewhere there's been a huge mixup and they have EU stock... it's hard to varify if cougar actually ship with UK plugs but research on the forums here and youtube shows UK stock as UK plugs

Yeah i shot an email over but assuming sunday service so hopefully get something back tomorrow off them, maybe they have one open they know the correct contents of.
