new cpu advice

Hello I am looking to build a new pc I know what I would like in regards to gpu's and ssd's and so on. The only thing I can't decide on is the cpu.

I use my computer for gaming, distributed computing and some video encoding.

I am leaning towards an intel i7 but because of the ht cores they can not do floating point calculations which makes it only as good as an i5 in terms of speed when it comes to distributed computing.

For this point I am looking at the and piledriver 8 core (i am not wanting to cause another "its not a true 8 core cpu troll") CPUs but because of really bad core vs core with Intel CPUs is seems like a bad idea.

So what I am asking is which would be the best CPU to choose and if I should maybe wait for the next gen stuff if they are going to be a lot better and I do over clock so that may change things too.

I do over clock too and I am just a bit scared of going haswel because of the rumors about some haswel chips not being able to get to 4.4 before having heat issues or are these just that, rumors.
