just installed a Q9550 on my Abit fatal1ty fp-in9 sli, and I keep getting "page fault in non paged area" when Windows tries to load.

Everything else in the system is the same hardware no other changes. I'm on vista 64x.

What could it be? I removed ram sticks to try to boot with 1 stick only, makes no difference.

What should one do to system or bios when installing a new CPU?

I forgot to do that. Could that really affect windows loading though? I've tried loading the defaults from within the BIOS but that makes no difference. Is loading the defaults not just the same as clearing CMOS?

The temps are ok according to the BIOS, i'll try clearing the CMOS but I'm really worried that won't solve the problem. Is there anything else I can try?

thanks for the advice, though I'm not that clued up on all the terms. Could you post perhaps a quick list of what and where I change some settings?

Right I get as far as the "Windows failed to start" message by changing the RAM Voltage to 2.1V as they require. However, I cant get past this.

I haven't changed anything else.

What to do?

I gave up and stuck my old Core 2 Duo back in and everything works fine.

Apart from...

Windows now seems to think Im not connected to the Internet even though Im typing this on the PC within Internet Explorer.

Also all the times and dates are wrong, it says Im in 2006. I try to do an Internet Time Update but as I said it seems to think Im not connected. Thus Windows Update can no longer check for updates because of it.

Any ideas?

Do you think I may have disabled something within the BIOS?

I think problem has been solved.

I disabled the Lan Controller in the BIOS, booted into Windows, rebooted back into BIOS enabled Lan Controller and I think everything is fine.

EDIT: Got this back now - (Though I've still lost the Network icon next to the clock)

Just a big thanks to everyone in this thread that tried to help.

Nothing worked in the end so looks like I'll have to sell the chip!

I'm knackered now after installing/removing CPU's, RAM etc!
