Just changed my old Q6600 to an E8600. Very pleased but the temps which are showing 38/45c in CT have NOT moved at all. I have run stress tests to get the heat up but they do not move. I don't understand the business of sensor revival so I would appreciate some advice on what can be done.

Thanks

I am using CT 0.99.3 SpeedFan shows exactly the same. Bios says 22c. When the Q6600 was in, ALL temp readers were the same including RT

I have the same problem with my E8600 Real Temp shows 36 / 40c and does not move when stressed, Core Temp shows 42/46c and does move by few deg when stressed.

Motherboard GA-EX38-DS5 with F4 BIOS.

Typical. I have been reading about these issues on the latest CPU's from Intel. What really grinds me is I recieved mine today, checked it booted then lapped it. :( Can't see OC allowing me to RMA it now.

I sent back a E8500 with non moving temperatures, waited 2 weeks for Overclockers to deal with it.

Got the same CPU back with no fault found. Tried the CPU in 2 other motherboards and the temperatures didn't move. Tried a different CPU in my motherboard and the temperatures did move.

Draw your own conclusions.

Everest Ultimate shows the CPU temps as 23/22 which is what the bios shows it as. When I bench, the temps rise to 36/36 according to Everest but CT moves from 38/45 to 48/48. When I stop the bench, the Everest reading goes back to 22/23 and CT says 38/45 again. Wierd.

Ive read a few people had to change the bios to get temps working right. In some cases the latest update and in a couple of cases on the 45nm Quads they had to go back to a older bios as some boards the 45nm chips are still in beta test stage for the bios due to Intel not always giving official support due to the Motherboards chipsets.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is in Everest Ultimate between CPU#1 Core#1 and CPU.

CPU#1 Core#1 says temp is 53c but CPU temp says 38c

Thanks

CPU is read from the heat-spreader or socket area, the core temps are the actual core 0 & 1 temps.

Thank you. What is the point of the CPU reading? Sure the actual core readings are more important. In my case the core readings are double the CPU reading. Is that normal for an E8600 E0 being cooled by a TT120Extreme?
