Hey.

In need of a new CPU cooler as my stock fan is struggling to cope, sometimes allowing the CPU to hit highs of 77c when converting video files, and sitting idle at around 40-45 :(. CPU is AMD Phenom II X4 955.

Not looking to spend any more than £30. Any help would be greatly appreciated :).

Thanks.

I tend to get hung up of bigger is better when for most applications it isn't needed. These smaller HSF systems are only a few degrees different at 125w.

Says the man with a whopping great big Phanteks PH-TC14PE stuck on his mobo :p

:o Yeah, please don't tell the wife. She has a Zaward Vapor on Athlon II X4 620 @ 3.5GHz w/ stock fan 100% load test peaks at 46c @1400rpm. :D

Stock load test was 34c max @12v (1400rpm), and hit 41c @ 800rpm. ;) on PWM. Cooler is more then capable but CPU wasn't. ;)

Thanks for the help everyone! :). Very much appreciated. Few good options to choose from, the Gelid Tranquilo is catching my eye the most.

Think I'll hold off ordering until this extended weekend is over though.

Just installed the Gelid Tranquilo and it's made a world of difference. Idle temp is now a nice 30c and it's almost completely silent.

Thanks again for the tips :)

mine is 50C on 4.4, Xigmatek Aegir ( both lapped) it's running cooler than my older Megahalems

it's just about the only part of my new rig that's working :(
