New CPU cooler suggestions?

Hey all!

Got my new system all settled down.

The problem now is getting a new CPU cooler, the stock AMD cooler that came with the Phenom II X4 Black Edition is a noisey little sod, sounds like a chinook helicopter taking off when its at over 70% on the fans :(

I have an Asus Crosshair IV Formula mobo, 8gb GSkill Ripjaw RAM and an Antec 300 case.

Most of the CPU coolers ive been looking at seem to sit too low (even if its a tower cooler) and im a bit wary incase it hits against the heatsink for the ram.

Anyone got any suggestions for a new CPU cooler that will fit inside the case and not hit against the ram? Price...anything up to about £35

Does it have to be air - as the Corsair H50 is selling for £39 using the promotional code at the check out at OcUK (code - h50promo).

I know it's an extra £5 but you wouldn't have any memory issues and it would give you excellent cooling results.

Ahhhhhhhh that one looks like its got a good long stand off from the motherboard...

There's a few like that: including the A50, A70, Akasa Freedom Tower etc...

But until someone comes along and states that they use the same cooler with GSkill Ripjaw you wont be sure. For example the only one i know will fit for certain is the Noctua NH-D14 but the down sde is that it cost £70.

Try a post in the Pre-Sales Queries forum as they will be able to give you a definitive answer. 5UB (OcUK employee and thoroughly nice bloke) is always lurking and is always ready to help with advice such as this.

I have the Tranquillo with Gelid value RAM. The RAM is a very tight fit and I'd be very suprised if G Skill ram will fit underneath it due to their fins. Of course it depends on how close the DIMM slots on your motherboard are to the CPU socket, and what DIMM slots you use.
