I bought an Arctic Cooling Freezer XTREME cooler, which has come loose twice in 2 weeks, so I’ve decided to get a new cooler.

To Continue, I own a Maximus Formula which has the problem of a very hot NB chip, which I currently cool with an Antec Spotcool.

To kill 2 birds with one stone I’ve decided to buy a Cooler with the fan parallel to the board to hopefully push a bit of air down into the NB. The question is has anyone had any Experience with either of these.

got the thermalright, but not installed it yet

personally i hate the lga775 mounting mechanism for it, it uses pushpins, but i'll be using it for a skt939 rig

I've used the SI-128.

Excellent cooler that i can recommend very highly.

All the air coolers i used have been fairly high end:

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
Scythe Ninja
Thermaltake Big Typhoon
Silverstone NT06
Titan Amanda

The SI-128 was definately one of the better ones. Add to that the fact that it's downward firing fan cooled the mosfets and northbridge near the CPU and it's a winner.

Get the bolt through kit for it aswell as a decent fan (scythe, sharkoon, akasa amber, etc) and you're good to go.

Edit: Here's a pic of it in place - mobo at the time was a gigabyte P35-DS3P -
