New CPU Cooler

Hi guys,

I recently picked up an ASROCK 970 along with an 8320 FX. The stock cooler on the CPU is doing ok, as its keeping me at around 57-59 whilst gaming. The only issue I have is how god damned loud the tiny stock fan is on the thing!

I upgraded from an old Intel motherboard that had a beautiful Nero CPU heatsink on it, but unfortunately the screwpoints don't fit on the new board (gutted). I need a heatsink with the rocker clasps on it by the looks, but not quite sure where to go.

Not particularly interested in Liquid as I'm not going to be overclocking, at least not for a long time.

cheers in advance!

Good air is cheaper, cooler, quieter and much less chance of problems.
Why do you think all these CLCs needed to be refurbished?
They may have a 1 year warranty, but I( believe that is covered by OcUK, not Corsair. Corsair warranty says:
Special Warranty Period in the European Union
In the European Union, the minimum warranty period provided by the reseller is two years. The minimum warranty period provided by the reseller for refurbished products is one year.
Corsair also says:
Limitation of Liability
CORSAIR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA (WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT) OR COMMERCIAL LOSS FOR BREACH OF ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY ON YOUR PRODUCT EVEN IF CORSAIR HAS BEEN ADVISED PREVIOUSLY OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Caps are thiers, not mine. I'm no lawyer, but to me that means if cooler leaks and other components are damaged as a consequence of the leak, they are not responsible.

What case and RAM do you have? Kinda hard to make intelligent suggestions without knowing if it will fit. ;)

thanks for the response, I'm never usually bothered by refurbs as to be honest most refurbished stuff I've purchased tends to last longer than the straight off the shelf stuff! (probably because its been pain-stakingly triple checked) :)

I'm in work at the moment so will need to double check the case model and RAM, but it was from an old bundle that I bought here, the Titan 8000i Predator. As that was purchased in 2010, unsurprisingly the details are no longer on the site ;)

So unless anyone has a really good memory and can list the specs for that build, I'll have the information around 6ish tonight :)

cheers,

Andy

I've had good luck with refurbished, but I only buy a refurbished product that has a good track record to start with ... and warranty was the same as for same thing new. ;)

Wasn't the Titan Preditor an Antec 300 case, with an i3 2120. Sorry, no idea what RAM they used.

Antec says the 300 has 170mm CPU clearance.

Funnily enough I do think it was the Antec 300, good for remembering! The RAM isn't particularly large. Standard height stuff with a little casing on the outside.
