I just purchased: Zalman CNPS4X 92mm CPU Cooler - Black to connect to my older intel core i7 replacing a broken water cool system.

But the fan mounts dont reach the sockets. The cooler I purchased said it is intel and amd ready but it does not seem to fit right. The water cooler unit I used to have has special screw adaptors which make its mount fit - these ones are too spaced out so I think I need some more of these but I am not sure the size.

It appears to be about 7mm too far from the bolt holes.

Is there a specific set of spacers bolts I might need - I had thought this part was completely standard for intel core CPUs....

The sort of spacer I think I need is something like (the screw/spacers in the middle): https://www.overclockers.co.uk/alpe...7x3JbjdWtxE1R2gcC7GZUIvStSnRbn1gaAjtnEALw_wcB

Not sure what to do now :(

thanks!

oooookay... sorry - I had not understood the setup I was given with the CPU fan I purchased. It seems that the X shaped mount is meant to be floating and the bolts/screws just pull the 4 tips down like springs (I guess this is right) to increase the pressure on the CPU. I have applied two figures of force into the screw driver and hope that is not too much! It seems to be quite secure now - so I will give it a go and report back :p
