New CPU dilemma

What about the Xeon 1231v3? Is it a viable option for gaming? Turns out there's a retailer close to me selling those for only a bit more than 4690k's. From what I've read, it's basically a multiplier-locked i7. I reckon it should work with Z97 motherboards? It all boils down to possible future benefit from HT vs overclockability... Quite hard to decide as I plan to keep the CPU for about 3 years.

I think I'll go for the 4690k and stick with it for a while, seems more than enough for the upcoming years. I always have the option to upgrade at some point in time. I'll put the money saved on not getting an i7 towards a better GPU. For now, I decided to slightly up my motherboard budget instead.

Which of the following would be a good, stable board with decent quality components and some room for OC'ing?

TBH, I'm not really into those gimmicky "gaming" boards and their in-your-face design but I'll buy one if it's worth it. All I care about is stability, good performance and decent OC'ing potential. I'm leaning towards the Gigabyte Z97-UD3H or the Asus Z97-A which is a bit more expensive where I live. There are reviews of Z97-A but I can't find a review of the UD3H anywhere. I've found a favourable one of the UD5H, though.

Please help me with this one final matter and I won't bug you anymore, promise;p Thanks for your help in advance.

EDIT: Figured I might as well start a new thread in a proper section. Sorry for being a nuisance.
