Im currently running an e4500 at just under 3Ghz but as its my birthday in a couple of weeks i thought i may upgrade to an 8400and clock it.

Would this be a pretty reaonable upgrade?

Left4dead sees my CPU at 100% so i was hoping the 8400 would help me out with its higher cache and speed...Primarily, this is a gaming machine.

Asus 55k
2Gig PC6400 Black Dragon
OCUK 8800GTX

Yeah, gpu wise ill wait and watch developments for the next couple of months, then it will be mobo and RAM time!

I dont want to bottleneck the gpu first!!

Your gpu should be fine for Left 4 Dead, what resolution do you want to play it at?

Most valve games seem to be more cpu-intensive so I would think the 8400 upgrade would help you there alright.

Currently play at 1440*9 but an upgrade will happen in the not too distant.

My G15 tells me the CPU is at 100% in L4D which annoys me!

Anyway, the GTX is still running things fine for me at the moment. Could always SLI on a different mobo if i build a small power station in my garden :D
