New CPU heatsink for 2180/2200

Do you have to remove the motherboard to install the Ultra-120?

I'm already getting great temps with my AC7 Pro so I don't see the need to change yet.

e6600 @ 3.6ghz 1.432V
Idle 24C
Load 58C

Yep, according to Wayne you do just to install the mounting bracket. Once that's there you can remove it easily enough to change CPU and replace with the board in situ.

Well impressed with the volts on your E6600 overclock, I had to pump loads through mine to get it stable which resulted in much higher temps than yours.

My E4300 @ 3.2 on stock cooler in a cheap cheap case with 1x 120mm intake and loads of cables in between it and everything else works. Thats all it needs to do :P

It idles at about 45 when the computers sitting there for a while and does about 70-80 on load. I have no idea if its prime stable but it only crashes once every few months and thats good enough for me.

A few weeks ago i purchased a Freezer pro however, somehow i broke the push pin plastic bits so that they get pushed to the side when you put them through the mounting holes of the mobo, effectively rendering it useless and resulting me in throwing it at the floor, bending all the fins.

:)

Freezer is a great cooler for Duel core CPU but I am yet to see it regularly cool past 3.3/3.4ghz on a Quad (and you can get 3.1/3,2Ghz of the stock cooler on a Q6600)...

It really depends on what you want from your machine and what spec it is.. if you have a Q6600 you can expect 3.6ghz (not always but mostly) and for that you will almost certainly need a Ultra-120 or Tuniq

tbh no I havent just going from looking at clocks and temps that are posted on the fourms.. and it seems ok for duel cores :) but I would still buy the Ultra :)

Have you always used a nice heatsink Pneumonic? can you remember your first 3rd party heatsink fan? and the reasons you bought it?
