Hey guys,

I just recently got a new cooler and after I had installed it, I did 5 passes of IBT test at maximum on my 3.8GHz overclock and the temps were decent for that overclock, until it blue screened. I thought "oh, might have to up the voltage a bit" so when it restarted, it told me that there was a new CPU installed and to press F1 to go to BIOS or F2 to continue and load setup defaults.

So, I went into the bios and put the clocks back to stock and when I restarted, it told me that a new CPU was installed. I pressed F2 and it went straight to windows. I have tried clearing the CMOS but it has no affect. It also seems that a lot of people have this problem.

Any explanation guys? Could I have bent a pin on the CPU?

Tried reseating it but no success. I have tried resetting the CMOS with the button on the back of the mobo so should I try disconnecting the battery?

You could disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes to be absolutlety sure - but it's essentially that same thing as pressing the button.

When you reseated the HS did you have a look at the CPU (i.e. reseat that too)?

EDIT: another option to consider is reflashing the BIOS - just incase your present one is corrupted.

I will disconnect the battery when I get home to see if that fixes it. When I reseated the heatsink, I also took the CPU out and checked the pins and they were fine.

I will also try reflashing it when I get home. Will it damage the mobo if I re-flash is to the same bios?

I cannot remember what BIOS version I am at but I am definitively not at 3017 (AM3+ version). When I get home, I will update to Version 1902.

I will also see if the OC button is pressed. I have a feeling that it is but I will see.

Just an update to the people that care. I have tried reinstalling the CPU, I have inserted a new battery, Tried it with one stick of RAM, checked the PSU with a multimeter and it is fine. It keeps appearing everytime I turn the system on. Its so annoying :(
