Hello,

Finally getting tired of my x2 3800+ and think it's time for an upgrade.

CPU

I'm pretty keen on getting the q6600. Do you think it is worth waiting for the new cpu's in a month, and when they come, do you think there will be a price reduction in the current chips?

MB

No idea. Recommendations? Looking for a stable, reliable motherboard, doesn't need to be OTT with features. NOT going to overclock.

RAM

Again stable ram please. 2gb or 4gb? Will eventually be running vista but not just yet. I'm looking for the fastest ram that won't be overclocked!

Oh and I suppose I'll need a heatsink - quiet is the key

Cheers

Motherboard wise, you could do a lot worse than the Abit IP35-E, reasonably basic but based on a good chipset and very solid. If you need Raid ability then something like the Abit IP35 would be a better bet.

Ram, I'd choose 4gb since it is cheap at the moment. OCZ have a PC6400 kit on OcUK for ~£80 which is more than sufficient.

A Tuniq Tower would be a good choice for the CPU cooler, as would a Noctua NH-U12F but both are £30 up. If that is a bit too much then the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro at ~£15 is a worthy alternative. :)
