New CPU/Mobo - Fresh OS install? - UPDATE - fresh install not required!

I'm going from a Q6600/P45 based system to a 4670K/Z87.

I'm keeping my SSD. Is there a way to keep my current WIN 7 install? Or atleast try?

Thanks.

I plan on doing a clean install when I have time, but for now I just want to get the new system up and running asap.

Transferred from Intel Core2Duo to an AMD AM2+ system with same install. Can't remember if I uninstalled specific Intel drivers such as RST first.

As long as your backups are covered, just try it.

I do it all the time. Windows is more robust than people give it credit for.

Use the win7 program called "sysprep". Start-search-sysprep.
This program removes all drivers so that you can transfer your
hd/ssd to a new system . You will need to re-enter your windows7 key
as well as new drivers afterwards coz that is cleared with the old drivers.
Google and youtube will give all the help you need.

UPDATE - I went ahead and used my current SSD with OS in my new build and it all booted up fine. Not even a single hiccup! SUPERB!

All I did prior was remove my GPU and ASUS Chipset drivers.

It was never really in doubt. Show stoppers do crop up from time to time but they are the exception and not the rule.

Windows is far more modular and organised than it used to be. It can deal with it.
