New CPU / mobo / memory advice pls

Looking to upgrade to an i5 / i7, looking to spend around £300.

Are the i7's worth the extra money? I'm thinking about getting an i5-2500k... I won't be needing SLI / Crossfire so I'll only be needing no frills mobo; no fancy features, also I won't be overclocking either so no need for expensive RAM
