New CPU/mobo recommendations

I have a 4090 with an Intel 5960X and 'need' a new CPU/MOBO/memory combo. Uses are gaming and general internet usage with no productivity. I game at 4K and want the best possible image quality.
My current system while unbalanced does everything I want it to at acceptable framerates apart from MS FS2020. I'm not in any particular hurry and I'm tending towards the 7800X 3D with a B650 mobo and the fastest DDR5 I can run on the board. I don't play twitch shooters so not bothered about 300fps in CSGO just a consistent 60fps plus in open World games plus MSFS2020.
Price is a concern simply because I don't want to pay more than I have to. I'd like at least 2 NVME slots (possibly 3 but 2 is fine if it saves me £50-100).
A future upgrade path is desirable and I have a EVGA 1600W PSU so have the power for anything. I'm tempted to wait another few months for prices to come down and better support for fast DDR5 (8200mhz?)

Any recommendations?

Anything 3000 series or better. The 3700X is still available at bargain prices along with the Ryzen 5700. Both will leave the 5960X in the dust and do more than you want for very little money.

For the best possible image quality and all round outstanding performance you would be looking for a 7950X3D. The 7800X3D offers slightly grunt less when using <8 cores.
Thanks I was actually after an upgrade not a downgrade or sidegrade. I'm pretty sure the minimum AMD spec to be an actual upgrade (my 5960X is at 4.4 and 3.6 Cache) would be a 3800X and there the difference will be indiscernible apart from in MS FS2020 where neither it or the 3700X will be hitting 60fps. The minimum for 60fps at 4K seems to be the 5800X 3D which is the minimum upgrade I'd go for.

I'll probably go for 7800X 3D as while the 7950X 3D is better it won't make a discernible difference in 4K if I'm looking at hitting 60fps mins.
