new cpu need advice

rte i will soon be recieving my new cpu a athlon 64 x2 4200+ and was wondering what cooler i should use with it, i have my stock one from a athlon 64 3200 would this be ok for now or is it better to get a better one.
 
The stock cooler would suffice but the CPU will get a little toasty. I'd spend another £15 or so and get the Arctic Freezer 64 Pro.

ile do that prob then, its in and thers some def improvements but it doesnt like my ram so will have to look at that at some point aswell, and i tort this was gunna be easy :rolleyes:
 
well i dont no how to post pics but ime running my puta on its full load and the cpu is at60 degrees do u think this is abit hot or ok, i havent got a better cooler yet
 
It's a little bit too hot I'd say. It won't kill the chip any time soon but the temperatures will only get worse as dust accumulates and the thermal paste begins to deteriorate.

Grab the Freezer 64 I say.

right i got the Arctic Freezer 64 Pro and it seems that its not relly cooling my cpu a lot more than my other cooler, any sudgestions
 
oh, make sure your have fitted the current cooler properly, after that all you can do is make sure the base of the HSF and chip are flat! (lapping).
 
right rear fan is blowing air out but cpu fan is blowing air in (there right next to each other) would that be the problem???

Is the fan from the CPU blowing air towards the back of the case?

So is there an intake fan at the front / side or just one exhaust fan and the heatsink/cooler fan?
