New CPU, need BIOS checks

Hi.

I just replaced my i3 for a Xeon, had a bit of trouble tweaking BIOS to get it working, but its all up and running fine. I just wanted to check if I have my BIOS setting correct.

Below are two photos of my Gigabyte BIOS. The first are the overclocking options. My Xeon was not getting to its 'turbo' settings when running a benchmark, so I...

Changed the 'Adjust CPU ratio in OS' to ENABLED - This changed the 'Adjusted CPU frequency' to 3.4 (from 3.1).
I also changed the 'Intel turbo boost' and 'Enhance turbo' to ENABLE.

Changing these three option seem to get the CPU to kick in its extra boost.

I think one of these options stops the CPU from going down to its normal idle speed of 1.6. Not sure if i want that.

My question is, have i done the right thing?

The second photo is just one of the CPU info.

CUPIDHWmonitor is still showing the name of the CPU as my old i3, i have tried to reinstall HWmonitor but this had no effect. However it is showing 4 cores rather than 2.

Thanks for any advice.

What motherboard and which Xeon? Did you check the CPU compatibility list on the motherboard support page? You might need to update the BIOS for it to properly work.

The Xeon is working fine. I was wondering if anyone had knowlege of the options I changed in BIOS. I'm not trying to overclock since you cannot overclock this processor.

CPUZ thinks these Xeons are I3s. I used to have one and it did the same. From memory (and it's been a very, very long time) as soon as you clock the turbo speedstep stops working.

Thats ok then, not just my setup :)
