A lad i game with just have had his system die, it was an older ryzen 1XXX chip. and he said to me if buying a new CPU and motherboard what would i get.. my replay was simple i have no idea

If buying a CPU for around 200, and a motherboard for say 100.
it as to be a i5 or R5 right?

the 10/11/12400f cpus are all very close in price and the 5600 is about the same.
for just gaming and nothing more that is the chip to get.

What he as..
GPU 6700xt
Ram is 16gb of 3600Mhz

Intel has pushed the prices up for 12th gen to try and help 13th gen sales. This makes the 5600 for £140 with the above £100 B550 mobo the most cost effective replacements.

He has ram that worked with a Ryzen 1 so it will certainly work with Ryzen 3 , guessing it is Samsung B die. If I was him I would stick to AMD at the moment.

5700x is sweet as well and around 200, i just upgraded from a 3600 ryzen to the 5700x before christmas and im more than happy with it, running a msi tomahawk max b450 mainboard as well which was cheap when i got it 3 years ago so might be bargains to be had :)

oh the ryzen 7 5700x is even cheaper than when i got mine a few weeks ago https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...hz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-3d1-am.html

188 quid, that is a no brainer, oh just noticed it also comes with a game now lol :)

You should be able to get a 5800x3D second hand next month as there will be people like me who might be upgrading to the 7800x3D and will be selling their old cpu off.

i just ran some 3d mark and got results from my curent cpu and my last 2 with the same graphics card.

went from 6600k i5 to 3600 ryzen to 5700x and the same radeon 5700 gpu :)

each time has been a noticable jump in gaming, so a 1xxx series to a 5xxxx would be massive, pay attention to the cpu test bit, brand new 5700x ryzen for about 188 at the moment and im also drunk but good advice :)

i fitted a new psu earlier so i ran some benchmarks to make sure it wasnt a dodgy one and stress my system a bit :)

god dam! ive just seen the price of the 5700x, i may have my pal send the 5600x back.
the 5700x dosent give much if any lift in games but the extra cores have to help in the long run and its basically the same price as an 5600x

EDIT:
OMG ive just seen the price on the none X 5600, yer his 5600x is going back.

They sell to the UK market so you are not allowed to mention competitors such as a well known auction site, best if you edit the name out. Obvious thing to do is buy from OCUK , great little cpu for a great price.
