My spec is.
Board: asus P7P55 LX
Cpu: i5 750 / i7 880

my problem is, i just got the i7 from a friend cheap. so i updated my bios reset bios and drop the cpu in and it will not boot. the info from asus says it will work in my board.

i put my i5 back in and it boots fine. so i have taken the cpu back and in his system is boots fine.

am i missing somthing that i should be doing before putting a new cpu in??

I guess he has.. ;)

Put the i5 Back in and make sure that the flash hasnt damaged the board. Make sure the bios is showing as the one you have flashed and is correct for the board. Make sure the bios is reset using the jumper rather than the "load optimised defaults" setting in the bios and after that you will have to try and see if you can get that CPU Tested in another board/machine. There may be a reason why it was cheap... It doesnt work..

Sorted.

friend came round moved ram from channel 1 to channel 2 and it booted up. ram is now back in channel 1 and it still working fine....

so am stumped but happy
