hi i have an e2180 @ 3.2 1.5v

i have just changed it to a e8200 but the pc wouldnt boot, ive changed it back to my old cpu and it boots,i think the new cpu is dead.

I just thought, as i had my old cpu overclocked, do you think that is why when i put my new cpu in, it wont boot? (monitor doesnt even come on)

Do you think if i go to default settings, then change the cpu, it might work, also is it possible that ive fried it as i had a voltage of 1.5 set

no chance of testing it, i brought it off ebay as a new oem for £70,he was selling 10 of them, hes had good feedback even from other people thst have brought the same cpu

i have a seasonic 600 w

i have unplugged all devices took 1 stick of ram out and it started up,i got into the bios, everything is on auto and is the correct speed, however when it trys to load windows it says.

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or currupt:

windos/system32/config/system

you can attemt to repair this using windows cd and selecting r

i triied this but it starts to read my windows cd and freezes before i get any options?

i have now swapped back to my e2180 to see if i can repair my windows from the cd without it freezing

Thanks for all your help

my ram is oc value 1066 2 x 1 gb

i still got the corrupt message with my old cpu but i have got to the menu to choose repair.

it has asked for the admin password, i have just hit enter as i have not set one?

now it just says
c:\windows>

ive repaired windows with cd,but its still not running properly so im going to re-install windows, but its running with the new cpu,so its looking good

thankyou for all your help, you have all been very helpful, this is a great forum which accompanies a great retailer

thanks gurusan i read your reply, exited out of windows repair, set ram to 800 for my old cpu and it booted into windows.

thanks again
